Roland ATW-10 Audio Tools ************************************************** How to make your multimedia projects sound as good as they look. Roland combined the amazing sounds of the RAP-10/AT Audio Producer Card with versatile Roland Audio Tools software to assemble a powerful Desk Top Media Production tool that's ideal for any multimedia application from digital recording to authoring. ATW-10 CONTENTS * RAP-10/AT Roland Audio Producer card * Roland Audio Tools Windows software * Sample data disks Complete specification at the end of this document. For explanation of special words please refer to the Glossary, available on the Roland World of Music CD-ROM. RAP-10/AT ROLAND AUDIO PRODUCER CARD The RAP-10/AT Roland Audio Production card is a sound card for IBM/AT and compatibles featuring two track/stereo wave 44.1 kHz/16-bit CD quality recording and playback, a wavetable synthesizer, digital effects, a built-in MIDI interface and analog mixer, as well as an optional MIDI connector box (MCB-10) so you can use external MIDI equipment like keyboards. Access MIDI sounds from the Roland Sound Canvas wavetable synthesizer that contains 128 instruments (all conforming to General MIDI System - GM - Level 1) including realistic and dynamic samples of acoustic and digital instruments, sound effects, plus six complete drum sets. This CD-quality sound module has full 26 voice polyphony and 16 part multitimbrality, so you can create sophisticated music ensembles for any application. Build-in digital reverb and chorus adds the final touch to your sounds. Thanks to a built-in MIDI interface, you won't have to hassle with bothersome connections when you use the onboard wavetable synthesizer. Just use the optional MCB-10 MIDI Connector Box and you can easily control external MIDI equipment like keyboards and additional sound modules. Or connect a joystick to get the most enjoyment out of games. PROFESSIONAL DIGITAL AUDIO SECTION The digital audio section provides 16-bit stereo and 2-track mono sampling (or 1-track stereo). This is ideal for "tapeless" digital recording of CD-quality sound and wave data clips. You can select the professional 44.1 kHz sampling rate, or use the more space economical 22.05 kHz or even 11.025 kHz. Use 8 bit recording at 22.05 kHz to get longer recording times for narrations and sound effects - and switch to 16-bit sampling at 44.1 kHz for sound quality at CD level. Length of wave recordings are not limited to RAM size, but can be anything within the capacity of the harddisk. A special feature is the two independent tracks, which you may use for stereo recordings - or for two independent mono recordings. ADVANCED EDITING AND FILTERING Wave files can be manipulated - in real-time! - using the many advanced features of the RAP-10 card. Depending on software, these options may include Level, Pitch, Pan and Filter parameters as well as the chorus and reverb send level. No more time consuming and destructive fiddling with software "emulations" of reverb and other effects. Use the RAP-10 onboard effects in real-time: Increase the level - or decrease it. ROLAND AUDIO TOOLS SOFTWARE The Roland Audio Tools Windows 3.1-compatible software allows you to take maximum advantage of the RAP-10/AT's CD quality General MIDI sound source and 2-track digital recording. Due to the hierarchical software configuration employed, operations from simple SMF or wave data playback to extensive wave editing comparable to professional hard disk recorders can be accomplished. Audio or MIDI data created on the Roland Audio Tools software can be pasted onto OLE-compatible word-processing or table calculation applications. The four-section main display of a wave player/recorder, MIDI player, CD player and a mixing panel is instantly familiar because it looks just like a consumer hi-fi system with separate components. In the waveform recorder/editor you can easily and graphically remove audio sections, pops and clicks. Extensive and advanced editing features includes wave loop, reverse, cut & paste, filter/pitch adjustments and digital effects processing are also easy to perform. In a separate wave composer screen you can easily combine up to 16 different wave tracks to a new one. A digital mix down at an impressive level of quality. The mixing console has 18 channels (2 for wave and 16 for MIDI). Each channel features real-time controls like level, panning, effect send, mute and other settings. The operation is similar to a conventional audio mixer but much more powerful. You may even record your mix for full computerisation! Wave data can be combined with MIDI data in perfect sync, making the package ideal not only for multimedia and music production, but also for jingles and post production.
